Ruben Lavooij

Hello and welcome to my humble little page, a few years have passed since I last updated my site. I have lived in the UK since 2015 and then Brexit and Corona hit forcing me to move back in 2020. Now happily back in the Netherlands I am back on the road for success, yours. Hit me up for any web related queries!

Follow me on:

Based in Bournemouth since 2015, I am a Dutch full-stack web developer for a digital agency in Dorset, UK.

Most of my time I spend working with Magento, 1 and 2. From creating full sites with all functionality required to finding solutions to problems that always happen on big e-commerce sites. I know my way around all kinds of web servers, apache, nginx, hosting and domain management. I have the unique ability of understanding websites as a whole, therefore I feel confident in what I want from a website and understanding a good user experience, which translates into my work. Every website I make is designed to be fast, responsive, accessible and optimized for search engines and social media, which are steps that most developers neglect.

Next to the building of sites, I also maintain them. A lot of sites are abandoned after they are built and often need some love to come back to up to date standards, think of security(SSL) and privacy (GDPR) or just some new functionality like abandoned baskets. In my spare time, I work as a freelancer and love playing around with new and exciting web stuff and gadgets. (like drones and 3d printers)
